Seven Tips to Preventing Pimples
Pimples can be a real problem for some people. There are many home remedies to prevent pimples but, in some cases, these home remedies are not enough. So, what is a person to do? Pimples and acne are embarrassing, especially when a person has a special event to attend and a breakout occurs.
Avoid Touching the Affected Area
Touching the affected area is not uncommon because most people naturally gravitate to painful areas. We tend to obsess about it making us notice the area more. Putting your hand on the area will spread bacteria and actually aggravate the condition, making your breakout worse.
Do Not Pop Pimples
Squeezing and popping pimples only sends the bacteria that caused the pimple deep into the skin, making the infection worse. Allow the pimple to go away or open up on its own. Avoid spreading bacteria and causing more pimples. In addition to spreading bacteria deeper into the skin, popping pimples can cause scarring.
Keep your Skin Clean and Free from Oil
Invest in disposable towlettes that can be carried in a pocket or in a purse. Wipe your face several times during the day to remove excessive oil. There are several types of acne control wipes on the market, look for the most gentle of these and avoid anything with excess fragrance and chemicals, as these tend to irritate the skin. Soap and water work well, too. Soap dries the skin and helps to diminish the level of oil on the skin.
Eat Healthy
Food is another cause of pimple breakouts and it is important to feed your body healthy food to keep your skin healthy. Limit fried and fatty foods, Increase the amount of water you drink each day and eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and all types of fruits. Avoid soda with caramel coloring and food dyes. These things tend to cause breakouts.
Apply Ice
As silly as this sounds, apply ice to the affected area. Ice will reduce the swelling and soothe the pain from a pimple. Apply ice several times a day. Use this tip especially if you have a special event coming up within a few days and need a quick fix.
Toothpaste
Believe it or not, toothpaste works just as well as many acne creams at helping to diminish the size of a pimple. What the toothpaste does is dry out the area. What you should watch out for is drying your skin too much which can cause itching and irritation.
Pimples can be a challenge for some people and if they are for you, then take special care to keep your skin healthy and your skin will be good to you.
